Koh Samui has lots of beaches, nightlife, restaurants and water sports but still maintains it's provincial feel. Unlike it's big sister of Phuket prices have not risen dramatically over the last few years. This is the place to come to have fun and relax all year around. 

Koh Samui is also the jumping off point of the infamous "Full Moon Party" on nearby Koh Phangnan which is for a few days each month.
